Releasing Stucco

Releasing Stucco is often caused by rising damp. Due the capillary action of the rising damp salts in the existing wall are fed. These salts then expand pushing the Stucco off the wall.

Whenever new Stucco is applied, the wall has to be completely dry before being whitewashed. Application on a damp wall will result in separation of the layer. The drying time of the Stucco depends on the thickness of the layer. As a  general rule of thumb, the drying time consists an entire day per 1 mm of Stucco. Always be sure to work exclusively in well ventilated areas.
